Steve Payne - Funeral Director
Steve joined Beckfords
as a Funeral Director after working with the Police Force for a number of
years and also with the Mental Health Department at the Castel Hospital. It
was a family bereavement that turned Steve's life around and after taking
stock of his life he decided to join the team at Beckfords. Steve's past
experience has helped him enormously in his capacity as a Funeral Director,
being compassionate
and sensitive to the needs of the bereaved whilst remaining professional
and focused.

Meet our staff

Clem Duquemin - Proprietor and Funeral Director
Clem Duquemin started his training as an evacuee during
the war, with S.A. Pedley Funeral Directors in West Yorkshire. After
the occupation he returned to Guernsey and continued his under-taking
business in the island, alongside his complimentary carpentry business.
He has also held the position of Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church for 33 years.
Clem merged his successful funeral business with that of Beckfords, on the retirement of Mrs Bertha Way, the then proprietor of Beckfords, in 1983. At that time Clem retired from carpentry to concentrate solely on funeral directing. He has a lifetime of experience within the field of undertaking, something that is very evident from the moment you first meet him.

Jane Duquemin - Director and Office Manager
Jane is the daughter of Clem Duquemin and has always had
a background interest in the funeral business. After many years working
within the Finance Industry and as a Legal Secretary she took time off to
raise her three children. Since 2001 she has taken a more active role
within Beckfords as a Funeral Director and Office Manager.
She feels that funeral directing is a hugely rewarding and satisfying occupation, being able to help people through a most difficult time in their lives. Death is a natural part of the life cycle and she believes it is a privilege being able to help people through a most difficult time in their lives.

Dennis Wherry - Funeral Director
Dennis joined Beckfords
as a Funeral Director after spending a number of years serving the community
as a police officer. Prior to this Dennis spent 13 years in the Royal Air
Force. Both his experience in the RAF and the Police Force have equipped
him to become a caring Funeral Director, still serving the community with
empathy and professionalism.

Julie Williams - Secretary and Monument Advisor
Julie joined Beckfords in
April 1999 and over the years has gained a great amount of experience
in dealing with bereaved family members. Julie has great compassion
and empathy, along with a caring nature, which is apparent from the
outset as she is normally the first point of contact with Beckfords in
her capacity as receptionist.
Julie also has a great amount of knowledge and experience with memorials, a side of the business she oversees. She is able to give advice, information and quotations on new and renovated memorials.
